Death is cold!

October comes from octo, the Latin word for eight,beeause on old Roman calanders it was the eighth month of the year.  It kept the name even when the wen the calander caned and it becme the eth month.  Tt almost got some other names, including Geranicus, Antonus, Faustinus, and Hercules.  Why?  Several emperorors tried to name it after themselves or their wives, but the new names didn't stick.  (Hercules by the way, was the surname of the emperor of Commodus,)
